BRUCE EDWARD (TED) WILFORD

Ted Wilford was born in Guelph in 1933 and after spending a few years in England, he returned to the Royal City shortly after the WWII.

He was a founding member of the Guelph Minor Baseball League in 1950 and from that point on, Ted’s involvement with Minor Hockey and Minor Baseball never stopped growing. His volunteer work as a league official, organizer, trainer, coach, and umpire has now spanned over 40 years. In

1992, Ted was honoured as “Volunteer of the Year” by both the Ontario Baseball Association and the Intercounty Baseball Association. His contribution to Guelph Minor Hockey was recognized in 1968 when he received the GMHA’s Presidents Award.

For the last 20 years, he has been the head trainer for the Junior ProJoys Intercounty baseball team, and has spent literally hundreds of hours repairing old equipment which has saved local baseball, thousands of dollars.

Ted’s commitment to making things better for young athletes is testimony to his love of sport.

Inducted into the Guelph Sports Hall of Fame – June 2, 1993
